Finding Inspiration Everywhere, Look at things differently

I used to be HUGE into photography.

One of the things I used to love photographing was normal, mundane things and transforming them into abstract art.

These are all pictures of my downstairs blinds as the sunlight was peaking through them and brightening up the little dew specs left on the screen door from the night before.

Look at things differently.

This is what happens when I'm bored and a winnah!

Bub is a volunteer firemen.

Sometimes when we're out he'll have to go on a fire call.

And the firehouse is boring, and smelly (a lot of boys "smell" it up)

so to entertain myself I wonder around the truck room and take photos

by the way, are you here to see if you won the group#3 day giveaway?

Well if you are #1 (SEE it CAN happen!) then COME ON DOWN and email ASAP (with in 3 days) to let me know you won! yellowheartart at gmail dot com

...I also Miss

Yesterday's post I confessed that I really missed getting into water color painting.

Today, I really miss being active in photography.

Something about being behind the lens and having people be able to see what I *literally* see is kinda cool in a mind blowing sorta way.

Goals for 2012: Mo' Photography. Mo' watercoloring. Mo' Money.

So gangsta' of me.

what do you wanna get back into?

Monday Photo Madness!

As some of you may or may not know the Bubs and I are moving into a new apartment (what? oh, that sound you hear? That is just the sound of me screeching of pure excitement at the top of my lungs. You'll get used to it)

There is so much that goes into a move.

Packing.

Cleaning.

Piling said packages.

Unpacking said packages.

Then throwing away the old boxes and reorganizing your life.

During this time my shop will be open for orders. I will be updating it periodically BUT I will not be physically able to produce, make or ship your items until sometime in Mid to Late October. I know guys, I'm majorly bummed out too. You have until SEPTEMBER 1ST to get your orders in! Anything placed on and after September 1st will have to wait till we are all moved in!

BUT here is what to look forward to for when I have my Grand Reopening of Yellow Heart Art come Late October!

-My Best Selling Designs in more color choices!
-Completely NEW graphic art necklaces! (I'm talking totally new designs AND materials)
-5x7 are print sets (sold in bundles of 3 or more)
-New art prints that are just illustrative designs with no words (don't worry, I will still be making "word art" prints!)
-Graphic art home decor! (Think dressing up your bed or couch!)

You guys, I am majorly STOKING OUT! (can you stoke out? Cause I totally am)

I thought it would be fun to show some of my old photographs that I used to sell at Yellow Heart Art, so now that we brought in the new, lets go down memory lane with the old!

one of my all time FAVORITE photos! (psssttt look what I did to the "L" key--didja notice it?)

A New York winter! (Icicles on our window)

A day trip in the hamptons (was crushing hard core on these 2 shop doors side by side to one another)

I love when my shop goes through another "revamping". Yeah its sad to see some products go, but it is so exciting to give my customers something completely and totally fresh to look at.

OK October, I'm ready for you. LET'S DO THIS!

((ok, October I totally lied. I'm not ready at all, please take your time))

kisses!

Boo-Yah! (Wait, I mean Buoy)

Wow, ya know, I'm a lil disappointed in myself.

I'm so big into photography and I haven't posted any legit "Hey, I'm a hippy and I frolic in a field while wearing a totally rad flowing skirt" artsy photos on here yet!

Well this must change stat.

This past weekend Bub and I headed out to the Hamptons to meet up with our friends Kate and Bill.

While there we ate at a mega cute out door restaurant, and since it was the Hamptons about 98% of all restaurants out there are beached themed.

Only I would quickly scarf down my corn chowder soup (ok, who brought the chick that orders the corn chowder in june?!) so I could hop the fence and take pics of the buoys out front.

Enjoy guys!

Probably my all time favorite color combination: Robins egg blue and red. HOLLA!

Look at that texture! (yum)

ahhh photography, I missed you.

True Story: I actually took these on my lil bright pink point-n-shoot camera, accidentally left the Canon Rebel at home (I know, I'm a terrible mom to my Rebel...I promise sweetie Mommy loves you)

What do you love to take pictures of?

Have you seen the latest lovely to enter the shop? It was inspired by beachy colors from my trip to the hamptons!

Happy Thursday!

Saturday Snapshot!

A little known fact about me: I dig photography hardcore.

I also dig amusement parks and anything that involves acting like my shoe size and not my age.

Bring the 2 together and you get something pretty baller

I spotted these carnival lights while out on the town with bub.

And you know homegirl couldn't resist a photo opp in the gnarly fun house mirros

I've really been meaning to go to the Doctor to get that whole "double extended jaw" thing checked out, but I think it gives me character, agreed?

Agreed.

Why Hello There Pretty Painting

So do you guys know bout Lindsay from Paint Me A Picture? The girl has serious talent. She takes a blank canvas and transforms into affordable awesome art (not quite sure how she does it--super powers maybe?) anyway look at what she sent me as my "induction into the handmade world"

I don't know bout you but I'm seriously diggin' Lindsay's "initiation" into the handmade world. Way better than stealing the boys undies after gym class (ew, boys and their undies)

I'm just a girl who has a crush on awesome paintings of cameras and cameras that take pictures of paintings of cameras...

...and paintings that double as cameras!
Thanks Lindsay! You rock <3

WIWW (what I wore Wednesday!)

Now to the untrained eye it may appear that I was so stoked to show you fabulous people my outfit that I just couldn't contain my excitement any longer and I had to let it out in obnoxious jumping form. While that may indeed be the case it was also cold as insert not nice obscenity here and it took everything inside your homegirl's will power to NOT throw my parka over this faboosh little pretty ensemble. Cue me jumping to get the 'ol blood flowing.

So hey, what exactly is Leo wearing?
1. Mustard & Lace bow care of the lovely Sandy from Sandy a la Mode
2. Reversible scarf - Charlotte Russe
3. Navy Blue Blazer - Old Navy
4. White long sleeve - Old Navy
5. Dark Denim Jeggings - Gilly Hicks
6. Adorbz Clutch - Apearnetly Sew by Alison
7. Gray Suede Boots (aka me channeling my inner peter pan) - Steve Madden Walmart (yep, Walmart, and what?)

So hey, whats that gnarly remote in your hand?
oh, oh that? would you believe me if I told that I possessed such skills like taking photos of my lovely self while flying my remote controlled helicopter? No? Yeah I wouldn't believe me either. Attention all bloggers pay attention to what I'm about to say: That thing in my hand is a remote shutter release. Learn it. Love it. Use it. It will be your new best friend.
You no longer have to hit self timer, make a mad dash to the spot where you think its focusing, stand there, smile, rinse and repeat.

go get yourself one. you're welcome in advanced.

Turtles and Ducks and Swans (oh my)

This weekend the Bubs and I were having mega (like mega) cabin fever. We needed out. We didn't care what we did as long as we were outside. Being that it was mid March on Long Island outdoor activities are kind of limited. So with bread in hand (and a Bub, can't forget him) we headed down to the ducky pond.

we came across this lovely couple who were also enjoying the day at the pond

Bub & I started to feed the ducks (he also brought some swedish fish to feed the Leonora's. Leonora's love swedish fish this time of year).

Yep guys I'm wearing a parka in the middle of spring. Apparently spring didn't get the memo that it was supposed to be here by now. Glad it's running fashionably late. Not like I wanna bust out my wicked cute 3/4 sleeved cardigans or anything. No no really I love wearing down comforters as fashion in the middle of spring...

But then the paparazzi came and ruined my mojo (hate it when that happens, dont you?)

By the way, don't bother feeding the Turtles because the bread just ends up ricocheting off their shells. Who knew?

...and don't tell Bub but this guy was totally giving me "the eye". That "come hither" stare. That "hey baby, what's your sign?" sneer. (by the way its Taurus, thanks for asking)

How was your weekend loves <3
