The Book of Awesome, Day 1

Fun fact about me: I love buying little itty bitty cute journals. Other fun fact: I think they are just too frekkin cute to ruin the inside with my non-sensical scribbles.

Its a vicious cycle really. I want to fill those pages with doodles or thoughts but after doing it for, like, a day I get unmotivated and stop.

I came across this pin on pinterest (unfortunately its a photo from tumblr with no source) where someone suggested for the new year write on a piece of paper something awesome that has happened to you, stick it in a jar, then at the end of 2013 read all the pieces of paper and look back on the year.

I love this idea, but didn't want a ton of loose paper lying around. So I dug up my 30 cute journals and decided to start a "book of awesome" tradition.

Basically its where I jot down one quick thing that has happened to me that day that was awesome. I am not going to do it everyday, only when something really big happens.

Like:
• MY CAR IS FINALLY PAID OFF!
• got a ha-uge camera plush order from Sony
• Bub surprised me with my fav. flavor of ice cream

you get the idea. what would your book of awesome say?

  1. Fantastic idea Leonora!!
I am the same way. I had ruining journals so I never write anything in them! What a waste!! So in 2013 I bought a little moleskin weekly planner and I am going to write little things that happen every day. It can be big or small, a list or doodle just a little something from every day!
I hope we both succeed in our goals!! :)

  2. I started something very similar when I started university! I didn't want to forget all the amazing memories I'd made but I know I am far too scatty for a journal to work out well for me. It's so lovely to look over and I regularly go 'oh my gosh I almost forgot about that!' I hope you keep it up :) xx

    p.s. love your handwriting!

  3. This is a great idea and it fits well with some of the 2013 resolutions I have lined up for myself. I'm going to be on the lookout for a cute little notebook.

  4. Great idea!!
Also, I am the same... I always want to buy cute journals or note books but never end up wanting to use them, because my writing is awful and I dont want to "ruin" them. haha

But this is a genius idea! :)

  6. What a great idea! I also buy those tiny notebooks and then I just stare at them because I can't actually use them. They are way too cute! I think I may have to start one of my own in January. Thanks for the inspiration!

  7. When I was in the Peace Corps I did something like that. Every day I wrote down 3 things I was happy had happened. Sometimes it was something small like, "I'm really happy the leaves are a very pretty yellow today." but it was helpful on what I called Bad Russia Days - Days I really missed home. It's been 12 years now, I guess, since I came home. I really should pull out that old journal and read it. I'm curious now what I all wrote. Also, it might be a good idea to revisit the habit.

  9. I triple LOVE this! I am also a cute journal-a-holic but I end up ruining them with random to do lists.
