I have recently discovered something about myself: I am an interior design junkie. I get such a high out of nabbing a really cool design-y piece for my home. The Bubs is used to it by now, I promised him he could have an "airplane room" and a beer tap installed in our kitchen back splash. (Bub is in the airforce and loves airplanes, he has a huge collection of airplane shiz and well he needs to get it out of his system. Man cave to the rescue)
Since I am taking over about 90% of the house I am trying to find an aesthetic that works for both him and I. I mean, he is living in the house too why should it be covered in doilies and flowers, right?(disclaimer: I'm not a "doily" and "flower" lover, but a lot of people are and that's cool too!)
The solution I came up with is industrial vintage. He has old airplane parts that look pretty bad ass with my rotting camera collection. Here are some of my "swoonies" (Swoonies: see also, Swoon or something that makes me go all HOLY CRAP I NEED THAT.)
1. Payphone from Urban Outfitters. So this thing not only looks cool but my guests also have to give us money in order to use it? Win-win.
2. Wired Lamp. This sucker needs to be in my dining room. I'm going to eventually have an exposed brick accent wall to go with it as well.
3. Wired Napkin Holder. You know you're getting old when things like napkin holders make your "swoon" list.
4. Giant Clip Thing. I am unsure what I would do with said giant clip thing, but I feel like i need it.
5. Moroccan Backsplash. I want this design to be my kitchen backsplash. I wanted something clean and timeless that doesn't need to be updated in 5 years.
6. Half Moon Basket. I don't really know what I would put in this basket, but who cares. I'll find something even if its just toilet paper.
7. Utensil holder. Dear Utensil Holder: Let's start a beautiful friendship where you hold all the things that no longer fit in my drawers. These things are currently scattered across the counter like some kind of utensil crime scene.
8. DANG IT I DID IT AGAIN. My "product collages" are notorious for skipping numbers. *face palm*
9. Flower Bowl. Obviously my apples and peaches need a cute home to live in, they can't just stay on the shelf in my fridge with no purpose.

Come Inside
I can't wait for the day that I get to have enough living space to decorate it all swanky-esque and say to people "come inside and look at all this amazingness that stands before you"
Then people will let out little gasps of "ooohhs" and "ahhhhs"
I showed Bub my interior design inspiration board on Pinterest the other day and was shocked when he was on board with my picks. High 5 team Leonora

Interior Design Inspiration
At times its kinda sorta frustrating living in an apartment from a designer's standpoint. To me, its our home, but its not our permanent home. I hold off on buying really fun wall art or furniture pieces since I don't know what type of space our future house will have.
Do you know how hard this is being an artist?! I want to go the nearest ikea, grab a cart, get a running start, leap onto the back and put out my right arm across the closest shelf and have all the items cascade into the cart like as if I'm on supermarket sweep. (Minus those terrible sweaters)
So for now we have a generic sofa with generic curtains and a 42" flat screen TV (Cause, really, why watch TV if you don't actually feel like your inside of the TV?) (I want to be able to touch Brad Pitt's abs with ease here people) (by the way you can thank Bubs for the gigando TV, I would've been ok watching Netflix off of my MacBook)
I've been collecting little bits of inspiration here and there for when we finally get a home! A place where I can make a more permanent investment design wise. Of course the TV comes with us, in my spare time I like to watch re-runs of Dawson's Creek and instagram photos of myself with a life size Pacey in the background.
Whatever, you do it too.

I need these floating book shelves. Why? So that whenever guests come over I can be all like "OH SHIZ ITS HAPPENING AGAIN! THAT EVIL GHOST THAT ONLY I CAN SEE IS HOLDING UP OUR BOOKS. QUICK HE'LL ONLY STOP IF YOU LEAVE" …aaaand thats how you get rid of uninvited guests folks
you are welcome.

You know what I hate more than anything in life? Wallpaper. I hate it I hate it I HATE IT. I know, this is a shocker right? What ruined my love for wallpaper was when my family moved into our 2nd home then ENTIRE FREKKIN HOUSE was covered in this gnarly 1970s floral wallpaper. And since the wallpaper had been up for YEARS it was a beast and a half to take down. Plus I feel like wallpaper quickly outdates a room, I mean unless you pick a neutral pattern. Which is why I love the idea of the bathroom having some stripes to it. Plus It'll give me something to count while I'm going to the bathroom.

I have been collecting so much artwork for our future home. I love the idea of having all our photos covering one entire wall. Although I can also see this plan quickly backfiring the first time bubs decides to chase me around the house and I go toppling into the wall and taking out every frame we own.
he really likes to chase me.

I want a clean looking kitchen. The crisp white with that pop of yellow? Swoon to the max. Besides it also makes me feel like I'm living in an egg or something, which I mean thats cool right?

Since we probably wont have the moola to do a total kitchen revamp I'm thinking for the time being if the cabinets aren't white already that we just paint those bad boys right up and add some modern looking hardware to them.
GAAAHHH I AM SO EXCITED SOMEONE BUY ME A HOUSE NOW PLEASE?
Bub? You out there? I'm talkin' to you.

Friday Faves! The "Boys are messy and smelly" Edition
It's official
I am now a big girl
Homegirl has an apartment.
Total confession time: for the past month Bubs and I were sharing a twin bed. Yep, we were kickin' it old school. Ahh yes it was so romantic, every other night Bub would ask me to "move over" so he would have more room, to which I would reply "What would you like me to do? I know this might sound really strange to you but I can't use the process of osmosis to morph myself into the wall"
Now we have a queen (ahhhh the luxury) and with the queen came new bedding and a new re-working of our bedroom.
Living with a boy is kinda rough--they are, like, really messy and eat an insane amount of food (who takes an ENTIRE loaf of italian bread, cuts it in 1/2, and proceeds to make a "small snack" out of it?!)
We've had to compromise in the "decorating" department. Now Bubs is kinda lucky since I don't have "foo-foo-girly" taste to begin with. I do enjoy my modern design a lot. I, on the other hand, am not so lucky. There is still an on going battle as to what room the "Neon Beer Sign" will go in (my vote is the circular filing cabinet, aka the garbage) and don't get me started on the giant "Jack Daniel's Whiskey" barrel lid that he bought down in Nashville.
Awright, let's get the "friday faves" show on the road, the "I now live with a boy so help me god" edition.
I picked my faves around "#2" the Nautica Knots Bedding. We currently have this up in our digs so I worked everything around that.
