Christmas Traditions!

This weekend was busy busy BUSY

but also a ton of frekkin fun.

Last year bubs and I went into NYC to do the typical tourist-y stuff that one does when it comes to this time of year.
Last year we got a smooch by the tree:

and tried to recreate this magical moment this year as well, but it was an epic failure

yeah. can you appreciate that awesome bright blur of a tree in the background?

oh, you can't?

Thats cause when this picture was taken we were being shoved around by so many people, and we felt super awkward doin' the 'ol "hey let's take a photo of ourselves a la myspace circa 2001"

Not only did we see the tree, but we also hit up Bryant Park for THEE BEST frekkin hot chocolate that your tastebuds will ever experience.

Imagine taking a chocolate bar, melting it down, then drinking it.

Oh, and you know that feeling you get when you play with a pile of super cute adorable puppies? Thats how you will feel when you drink this amazing liquid wonder, times 10.

Last Years Shot:

and this year

and no trip to the city isn't complete with out an awkward picture next to some random tree.

some things you should know about this photo, because I feel really bad misleading all you fine folks.

1. that jacket? it rocks, right? Oh, you noticed its a ski jacket? Yeah. I don't ski. The one time I did try to ski it ended terribly. Bub and I almost broke up and I ended up going down a hill "Matrix Style" at a 90* angle while my back dragged on the floor and my legs were bent with my skis on the snow "skiing" me down.

Never. Again.

2. why do I own a ski jacket? Well, it's on oakley jacket, and it retails for way over 200 bucks. I nabbed it in Marshals for 50 buck-a-roos.

Who wins? Me.

who also doesn't ski? Me.

3. See those cute leather light brown "toggle clasps" near my collar bone/chest area? Well, they're fake snaps. They dont do anything at all. How do we know this? While waiting for the train to take us into the city bub got antsy and startle to fiddle with my jacket. He wanted to see what the little toggle unsnapped to. It unsnaps to nothing. Now there is a .25" hole under my toggle.

Thanks bub.

4. Yes, said ripping of my jacket led to a fight.

Romantic.
5. Yes, I did try to rip his jacket back

caused a scene.

6. No I did not succeed.

darn.

7. he'll just have to sleep with one eye open--while wearing his jacket.

evil grin.

who knew there were 7 points I needed to make about this photo?

moving on.

There are also vendors in Bryant Park, a TON of vendors that sell way awesome swag.

I nabbed a suh-weet leather wallet that has handmade artwork transferred onto it.

(art by studiomanhattan.com)

and got this super fun retro-tin prints for our new digs.

as you can see there was some serious compromising going on with these prints. I really love the retro look and bub, well, really dug the sayings.

Sigh.

Please dont show up to our apartment topless, you will not get free drinks.

We of course ended the night with some window displays at Macys

what christmas traditions do you guys have?

Oh and my apologies for the photos-I was NOT schlepping my giant DSLR camera into the city during christmas time. It's heavy, its uncomfortable and not to mention really hard to operate while wearing mittens. Also New Yorkers hate it when they see people sporting these cameras, nothing screams OBNOXIOUS TOURIST ALERT then one of those puppies.

Until next time folks.

HelloOoOOO Fall! Apple Picking & First Date Encounters

This weekend the Bubs and I decided to take advantage of the fact that we live near the Hamptons and took a trip to get us some apples.

On the way we stopped at Foodys for some lunch. Foodys is a place where we accidentally had our first date 3 years ago. Our first official date was a tour of a light house in Montauk (Disclaimer: this was not as romantic as it sounds. I totally blanked and forgot that I am deathly afraid of heights and cramped spaces. Needless to say when we got to the top of the lighthouse I was convinced that was going to be my "new permanent home" because there was no way in heck I was coming down. My knees were buckling, tears streaming down my face, hyperventilating, I was prepared to be the princess locked up in some tower somewhere for all eternity.) BUT I finally got down somehow and we used Bub's Tom Tom to try to find us some food.

Every restaurant we typed in the GPS would take us into some neighborhood, place us in front of someone's house, and tell us we reached our destination.

Now, I wasn't about to knock on these people's door and be all like "Waddup ya'll, whats for dinner cause clearly we're eating with you guys."

So we drove up and down trying to find a place to eat and found Foodys. So now whenever we are in the area we always make sure to stop there for some grub.

They have some vintage food posters on the walls & awesome wire art

I took a pic with the menu & we made some obligatory funny faces

sorry the photo is blurry, we may or may not have turned off the flash to *not* be those people in a cute little hamptons cafe taking obnoxious blog photos. Clearly we're "out-of-towners"

We had to pay 32 bucks for this stupid bag to fill our apples with. (see said bag below) I offered a kidney instead but they said they really had no need for one. So 32 bucks it was...

I was kinda excited to pick some apples...

and so was bub. that's his excited face, don't let him fool you.

aaand obligatory photo opp in the apple orchard minus apples, seriously look at the trees.

poor bub, I was getting the most bang for my buck. You're gonna charge me 32 bucks for a plastic bag that I stuff with apples then you know I am stuffing that bad boy to.the.max.

It weighed the amount of a small child and ironically bub kinda had to hold the bag like a child at this point too...

what did you do this weekend friends?? <3

Totally Normal Weekend Adventures

Most weekends the bubs and I just sit around and watch really lame reality TV shows while arguing over whose gonna wash the dishes. (I know, this totally oozes romance)

But this weekend we decided to change it up a notch.

Guys, guess where I went.

Give ya a hint: There were no water color paints and I couldn't wear a cute dress.

Yep, home girl went to the gun range!

I know, completely random, sorta terrifying, and kinda amazing.

I've never ever shot a real gun before ever. Unless you count hunting for ducks while using this beauty:

...and I know you hear that dog's laugh in your head--come on you KNOW that laugh

ok, back to real life (focus Leonora)

I was unsure what one would wear to the gun range, so I just kinda winged it.

pink flip flops and toes? Check.

pink gun goggle thingy-ma-bobbies? Check.

a teeny bow in my hair to show how bad ass I am? Totally check.

True Store: The 7 year old kid behind me was totally kicking my butt.

I have no idea what I am doing.

 Bub "in the zone"

Man make things go boom *grunt grunt*

Uncle Mark giving it a go. He's pretty legit with those ear phone things on.

Bulls Eye.

Eat it Angelina Jolie, there is a good chance that next "totally bad ass tough chick who is really-like-skilled with a gun" movie roll might just go to yours truly.

Just saying. Watch your back Angie, ok?

have you done anything out of your comfort zone lately?

Turtles and Ducks and Swans (oh my)

This weekend the Bubs and I were having mega (like mega) cabin fever. We needed out. We didn't care what we did as long as we were outside. Being that it was mid March on Long Island outdoor activities are kind of limited. So with bread in hand (and a Bub, can't forget him) we headed down to the ducky pond.

we came across this lovely couple who were also enjoying the day at the pond

Bub & I started to feed the ducks (he also brought some swedish fish to feed the Leonora's. Leonora's love swedish fish this time of year).

Yep guys I'm wearing a parka in the middle of spring. Apparently spring didn't get the memo that it was supposed to be here by now. Glad it's running fashionably late. Not like I wanna bust out my wicked cute 3/4 sleeved cardigans or anything. No no really I love wearing down comforters as fashion in the middle of spring...

But then the paparazzi came and ruined my mojo (hate it when that happens, dont you?)

By the way, don't bother feeding the Turtles because the bread just ends up ricocheting off their shells. Who knew?

...and don't tell Bub but this guy was totally giving me "the eye". That "come hither" stare. That "hey baby, what's your sign?" sneer. (by the way its Taurus, thanks for asking)

How was your weekend loves <3
