Works in Progress Wednesday! (and shop sneak peek!)

I  love being a graphic designer. I still get blown away when I get an email from someone out there in cyber land that says to me "LOVE your stuff! design my blog?" or "this print NEEDS to be in my nursery" and of course "hey you're pretty rad, let's be friends?"

ok, so the last one doesn't happen too often. But if you do think I'm pretty rad I highly recommend that we be besties. We can eat high caloric content food while talking about boys.

Some of my most FAVORITE custom orders come from other homegirls that also have etsy shops.

It's like creativity overload--we shoot ideas back and forth and then BAM something totally magical and epic happens. (Did I really just say BAM? Why did I go all Emeril Lagasse on you guys?)

Here are 2 recent custom orders that I made for Andrea from Bubblewrapp'd and Heather from Just Lovely Things.

Seriously, if you don't already know these lovely ladies (which I dont know how you WOULDN"T know them b/c their stuff is, like, super duper awesome times a bagillion) then I really think know that you should check em out! (trust me, you will not be disappointed. Cross my heart, girl scouts honor and circle circle dot dot now I have the cootie shots) (ok, cootie shots have nothing to do with this blog post, but I had a throw back to elementary school for a hot sec--it happens)

Andrea recruited me to revamp her current Etsy shop, Bubblewrapp'd. She was in love with the idea of something that was clean, modern, but still had a lil UMPH, a lil PIZAZZ a lil HEY HOW YOU DOIN'?

Check out her Etsy Banner:

Etsy Avatar:

and Swanky "Reserved For" button for custom orders! (Cause homegirl gets A TON of custom orders)

and in case you didn't believe me when I said that homegirl gets a bunch of custom orders then go ahead and check out some of her swag in her shop. She makes these ballin' wooden blocks with vinyl lettering over 'em. Perfect for sprucing up your home on a budget. These cute blocks are really affordable--and bonus? Andrea is so fun to work with! Mega budget plus Mega cuteness = mega win.

see? toldja.

Wanna find Andrea? Catch her at these places and tell her I said YO:

Also when you visit her blog you may or may not have a chance to win a print from yours truly over there! Get on it cause we are doing limited giveaways!

Another shop that I am so IN to the LOVE with is Heather's from Just Lovely Things.

I am about to admit something here, and this is a JUDGMENT FREE ZONE.

I own 7 headbands from heather.

What? If you saw her swag you would own 7 too.

and also? I am no where NEAR done with my growing collection.

I contacted Heather a while back and was all like "bro, we gotta trade man"

(ok, I didn't say it like that per say)

but she was stoked about the handmade trade and I joined her in the stoked-ness.

Heather told me what kinda suh-weet prints she wanted up in her "just lovely" home (like how I used "just lovely" right there?) so we brain stormed and came up with these prints for her and hub's bed side:

She also wanted a print to put up by her mailbox. Ignore the blurred out section--I didn't think Heather would appreciate me blasting her personal home address all over cyber space ha!

Girl has got a good eye.

And now, a slide show of me wearing all my headbands made by Heather. Feel free to sing a little of Green days "Closing Time" to yourself (I dont know why but slide shows always seem to include Green Day)

Baby's first "Just Lovely"

Yep--she also makes Bows.

Triple the Ruffles, triple the handmade goodness.

Don't question my face and jazz hands. It needed to be done. are you obsessed yet? If so I'm starting a support group if you are so don't worry--I got your back.

Find Heather Over Heeea! Tell her I said "werd"

Also, you guys have been hearing for fah-evah about Yellow Heart Art's grand re-opening come mid October! Now I'm giving you guys a sneak peek of one of my new items!

Umm hey, guess what?

This necklace is one of a kind and is only for sale here on my blog :)

If you want it please e-mail me (yellowheartart at gmail dot com) there is only one available! ($30.00 plus $3.00 shipping)

This pretty sits on an 18" silver plated chain. The saying "I Make Pretty Things All Day" is actually not a font! I hand wrote the words graphically on my computer. I had my artwork printed onto fabric (THANK YOU AMY FOR THE SUGGESTION! this has saved me so much time) and then placed in this pendant tray! A cute yellow heart sits on top of the gray text.

I will have more necklaces in my shop with this saying BUT not designed like this (thus the whole "one of a kind" speal)

Not into the new necklace? Check out my current blog sale for my discontinued necklaces being sold at more than 50% off!

Holy long blog post batman--homegirl signing out.

Goodluck Everyone!

Hi Irene.

Living on an island during any of the following is just not cool:

-trying to leave Long Island and travel through dreaded Manhattan at 5pm on a friday.

Dude, I am surrounded by water. Earthquake=tsunami and Hurricane=drowning.

umm, eep?

So what did I do this weekend in preparation for Irene?

-visited walmart, walked past the shelves of water & sandbags and went right to the $5 DVD bin. What? Water comes from my faucet, but movie entertainment doesn't come outta my faucet when there is no power. so I win.

-created a suh-weet blog sale on the blog! All discontinued necklaces are being sold for more than 50% off! Check 'em out and holla atcha girl.

-Finished up our headboard. Bub made everything from scratch (yep he even made the shutters) If I'm gonna be pummeled by a hurricane that has the name of an 80 year old golden girl wannabe (might as well have named it Hurricane Blanch) then heck I'm gonna at least snooze away in style--agreed?

-went traveling around Long Island with our generator to give power to my brother and sister. Came across this "lil fella" just hanging out. (and by "lil fella" I mean "HELLA BIG" tree and by "hanging out" i mean "HOLY CRAP IT IS UPROOTED AND TOOK OUT A FENCE". and end scene)

hope you all were safe this weekend!

Time for new inventory folks!

Which means a whole bunch of cool stuff is about to happen!

Old stuff goes buh bye. New stuff says HELL-O!

But, I want to find a good home to my necklaces that I am currently discontinuing. This kinda bums me out. But then I remember that I get to introduce new designs and that makes me uber happy again.

So, I introduce to you lovelies some necklaces I have left over that I am selling here on my blog for a (CRAZY) discounted price.

All necklaces were $30.00 but I am selling these lovelies at $12.00 each (with $3.00 shipping)
By the way these are ALL 100% HAND MADE. The artwork inside these necklaces or not scrap book pieces of paper OR clip art. I hand made all these patterns via the computer and then placed them in a pendant with some resin so you can wear my art around your neck. You guys are my portable art gallery.

Here is how it works:

You see something that makes you go all "OoOo I so totally, like, NEED that!"

You email me letting me know which necklace makes you swoon. (YellowHeartArt at gmail dot com)

I send you a paypal invoice to the email you contacted me with.

You have 24 hours to pay it. If not then your necklace gets put back on the market.

All items are final sale and are non refundable.

Friday Faves! We're going to italy kids!

Ahhh Italy. That place just oozes romance. A sweet ride on a gondola with your hunny? Some legit italian pizza? Perhaps finding 2 brothers named mario and Luigi? (Do you all have the super mario theme song in your head now? Cause you are welcome in advanced for that) (do do do DE do do do…) (ok, listen, that is my best impression of the super mario theme via the interweb, cut homegirl some slack)
You all we be shocked to hear this but I am 100% italian american. As if my freakishly white skin and green eyes didn't give it away. (seriously, where did I come from?)

As you know from time to time I like to live vicariously via my own blog. You guys wanna take a trip to italy with me a la my friday faves? (like how I used "a  la" right there cause I kinda do) and the best part? No 8 hours plane ride with a crying baby on board. Hop on kids we're going to the Mother Land!

Gondola Dress by Shabby Apple

Ok everything about this photo is high on my "Swoon-ometer". That dress?! That Vespa?! The Pooches?! Is that what italy really looks like cause heck I might just swim there. Guys, are there sharks on the way? Cause I'm starting to re-think this whole "let's swim to italy" bit....

This vespa is way more affordable than the Tiffany Blue one I've been eyeing...I have no clue when I would ride a vespa per say but I feel like it's something I should just have. Just so I can say "yo bro wanna check out my vespa?"

Ciao! Necklace by Enchanted Planet

A word so epic it means both "hello" and "goodbye". Wait--thats kinda confusing. How do you hang up the phone with people? Like, are you saying "bye" or just "hello" all over again? Something to think about guys...something to think about.

imagine this scarf, with a denim jacket, a cute white fitted button down tucked into your navy blue pencil skirt while scouring the Cathedral with some dude named Pasquale. Just imagine that for a hot second will you? and you're welcome.

Fedor-able Hat by ModCloth

Confession time: I own about 18 fedoras. You guys I am dead serious. I have one head and about 54 hats. At least its a nice even number, right? So that totally makes it ok and acceptable. Accept me guys.

Italy I'm coming! Can ya hear me? No, not the screaming baby on the plane--thats not me.
